Well done for securing the money to improve/develop Cambuslang Park. I frequently use the park and I'm looking forward to seeing what exciting things have to come.

For family days out we frequently visit Strathaven Park and I think this would be a great starting point for ideas.

I remember the ever flowing burn running through the park and my mate Damo finding a dead ginger cat next to the rail tracks.....you used to be able to roller skate aroud the rollerama with out tripping up on buckie bottles or burned out cars.....I have fond memories of spending days exploring the park off the beaten paths pretending we were in some jungle as kids. Climbed a few of those trees in my time as well. Not as many as the Brogan boys though........My friends Berts house used to back on to the park and we used to enjoy walking round to Kirkhill tennis club and collecting all the stray balls......I am a friend of the park. So great to see its friends all standing up to defend it.

Reply - Hi Rona thanks for the comments - we are doing our best to make the park a place we can all enjoy once again and be able to go into the park and just see the beauty of it - there are no burnt out cars in the park that I know of - we are working with the co-operation of land services to keep the park in the condition it warrants - in the coming spring we intend to have a spring clean event which will involve families - hope you can come along to some of our events

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Friends for opening the park back up to families. My children and I use the park quite often but are usually out before 4pm-5pm because the park is not the friendliest of places at that time. The Halloween event was thoroughly enjoyed, particularly the magician. I remember the park when I was growing up when it had tennis courts, putting and a lot more swings etc for kids to play on. It is nice to see people doing something positive to try and make the park a family place again.

I would like to thank Anne from The Friends of Cambuslang Park Group for arranging a recent visit for my husband and I to the Uniting Free Church, Beech Avenue. I can scarcely believe from a small request via the internet that I have now travelled to Cambuslang, seen the inside of the church that was once home and place of worship to my grandmothers family many years ago and established a wonderful friendship along the way. I also wish to thank group members Margaret and Norman who also took time out to meet with us on our visit. I feel that the preserving of local history in ones community brings people together with a common goal and the social benefits are an added bonus to the knowledge gained. The information I take home to Australia to the older relatives in particular will be eagerly received and I am particularly grateful to be able to access this on their behalf. I look forward in the future to following the growth and activities of your group with much interest. Thank you once again.
Erika Gray.

I attended the fun day with my 16 month old son and we both really enjoyed it. Thank you to the organisers for providing an event for all ages to enjoy. Keep up the good work.
