Friends of Cambuslang Park

The Friends Of Cambuslang Group is a local group made up of residents throughout the surrounding areas of Cambuslang who have a keen interest in promoting the Park and making it a place that can be used not only by locals but by visitors to the area.

In November / December 2006 Changing Places facilitated a community consultation around the park. Questionnaires were distributed to each of the households surrounding the park in the hope of seeking the views of local people.

On 29th January 2007 a feedback event took place promoting the findings of the above  and gaining further public opinion on findings held in the Cambuslang Institute. This led to the initial meeting of the Friends of Cambuslang Park on 14th March 2007 and since then the group has gone from strength to strength.

Since the first meeting we have held a variety of events from guided walks to fun days to a Halloween event and we intend to hold more events as time goes on.

If you click on our News page you can see a list of events that have taken place to date.

We actively encourage anyone interested in becoming a Friend or anyone who has any facts, knowledge or ideas for the park to fill in our comments page and send this off to us.

We hope you enjoy looking at this site and that you will be encouraged to use this valuable community space whenever you get the chance.

Cambuslang Park spans 27 acres encompassing the contrast of open park land and the Borgie Glen, which is a steep tree lined ravine, containing a complex network of pathways. Not to mention a pond, sport pitches, woodland areas and the Bandstand, which is a natural amphitheatre.

The Park is truly unique and the Friends of Cambuslang Park actively encourage one and all to make the most of it.

The group plan to hold various events throughout the year to build on the success of the events that took place 2007. We will advertise events not only on this site but on other websites, the local press and the Community Matters newspapers and we look forward to seeing everyone then!

Friends of Cambuslang Park work closely with Land Services and Greenspace and the group would like to thank them for their continued help and support.

Added to this we have a comments page on this website and we encourage anyone who has old photos, memories or just general questions about the park to get in touch with us.
